1. General
The contribution rules of our paper was formed based on Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journalsand the details not stated on the following shall follow the general rule of above form.
2. Journal Publication and Submitting of Draft
Our paper is published 4 times a year (March 31, June 31, September 30 and December 31) and received by editing committee at all times throughout the year at the editing committee. The submitting date of draft shall be the date draft was submitted at the editing committee and the selection of draft shall be the date when the corrections have been completed after examining.
3. Draft Contribution Method
). While contributing, the original file (MS Word), writer checksheet, thesis examination fee and publication receipt should be submitted together while PDF files are not accepted. Two files including the original file with name of writer, organization, acknowledgement and research expense support as well as the file not including these things should be sent.
4. Amount of Draft
The amount of draft shall be not exceeding 15 pages with A4(210×297mm) white paper. The writer shall pay for expenses limited to the exceeding amount of draft.
5. Thesis (Original Artcicles) Style
The order of thesis should be in the order of title page, abstract, key words, texts, acknowledgements, references, table & figure, legends (except for clinical & case report and reviews) while the text is divided into title, introduction, materials (subject) and method, result, considerations and conclusion (summary).
5-1. Title Page
On the title page 1) Brief Korean and English title communicating the contents well (All words must be capitalized except for prepositions and articles), 2) full name of writer in Korean and English, 3) supporters of research expenses, etc, 4) name and address, etc of corresponding writer (Including Phone, Fax and E-mail address) should be written. When the Korean title exceeds 30 characters or English title exceeds 15 words, the running head is inserted separately on the title page (No more than 10 characters in case of Korean and no more than 5 words in case of English).
5-2. Writer
The person listed on draft as the writer of thesis must be qualified as a writer. Each writer must be the person who has participated adequately in the research to the extent of being able to take responsibility for the details of research. The writer is qualified only in case of 1) contributing to establishing basic concept of research, planning of research and analysis & interpretation of materials, 2) making considerable contribution in changing or improving main parts of indicated details or preparing draft, 3) being able to consent to the details of final draft. Writers are classified as ①the first writer ②corresponding writer and ③common writer while the order marked on thesis shall be in the order of first writer and common writer, but the corresponding writer is marked separately at the bottom. The editor may inquire as to what work each writer was in charge of in the research.
5-3. Abstract
The English abstract is used in the draft. In the abstract, English title, name of writer (in the order of first name-last name), name of organization and details of abstract while the length of details shall be no more than 250 words in case of English abstract. The abstract should be recorded in a form of Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions including the following details.
① Objectives : Describe briefly and clearly with 1-2 sentences on why this research was performed and what is the object to be accomplished. The objective recorded here must correspond with title of draft and details stated in the introduction.
② Methods : Describe specifically on what has been done and how in order to accomplish the objective describe in the first paragraph. What materials are collected, how these materials are analyzed and how bias was adjusted are recorded.
③ Results : The details on how the results observed and analyzed using the method described in previous paragraph were should be logically described while presenting specific data.
④ Conclusions : The result derived from the outcome of this research is described with 1-2 sentences and this must be the one corresponding to the objective of research described in the first paragraph.
The key words of thesis are marked as no more than 6 words at the bottom of abstract. At this time, the key words must use MeSH (Medical Subject Heading) listed on Index Medicus. When the word is oriental medicine terminology, oriental medicine prescription name or name of acupuncture, record by referring to WHO-IST and WHO international standard for acupuncturing parts.

5-4. Text
The text should be in the following order.
Introduction, subject or material and method, consideration, conclusion and bibliography.
Each item can be combined or omitted out if necessary.
In the introduction, the research objective and a brief background should be mentioned. The method should include descriptions about the subjects of study, methods used, experiment tools (state manufacturer and model) and procedures, etc. It should be described adequately and in detail to make it possible for other researchers to reproduce the same study. And the statistical examination of result must be also recorded. If the subject of study is human, authors should ensure correct use of the terms sex (when reporting biological factors) and gender (identity, psychosocial or cultural factors), and, unless inappropriate, report the sex or gender of study participants. The sex of animals or cells, and description of the methods used to determine sex or gender should be provided. If the study involves an exclusive population, for example in only one sex, authors should justify why, except in obvious cases(e.g., prostate cancer). Authors should define how they determined race or ethnicity and justify their relevance. The result should be recorded in the same order as the order of diagrams. Only the important observation results should be emphasized and summarized. Repetitions of tables and texts or data illustrations of the same contents should be avoided. The consideration should be prepared based on new and important aspects and the conclusion of the research. Literary consideration irrelevant with the results should be avoided.
① Terminology : Academic terminologies should be in Korean if possible and can be written in English or Chinese only in case there is trouble with translating them.
② Abbreviation : Only standard abbreviations are used. Avoid use of abbreviations in thesis title and abstract. While using the abbreviation for the first time in the test, mark the abbreviation using parentheses, etc after writing the formal name first and can be only marked as abbreviation afterwards. While it is ideal to avoid using abbreviations that are generally used if possible, but the abbreviations of standard measuring unit is an exception.
③ Marking proper nouns, numbers and measurements : name of people name of places and other proper nouns should use original language if possible while the arabian numbers are used for numbers and metric units are used for weights and measures. The temperature is recorded in Celsius and blood pressure is recorded in mmHg. The measurements of hematology and clinical chemistry should use metric units of SI (International System of Units) method. The measured values and unit indications must be spaced.
④ Name of drug : Use general name rather than product name as a general rule. But the product name can be marked only in case it is important for evaluation of result or tracking research.
a. The oriental medicine prescription should be marked by Korean pronunciation first and only the first word is capitalized. Words that stand for ingredients such as soup, acid or pill should be indicated by lower case letters after using the hyphen(-).
(Ex) Chungpesagan-tang
b. The name of oriental medicine must not be marked only with name of herbal medicine and the actually used part or measuring method must be marked with proper English.
(Ex) licorice (broiled) : Broiled root of Glycyrrhiza uralensis FISCH
⑤ Category Classification
The categories of text are classified with arabic numerals.
Ex: 1, 2, 3, 1), 2), 3), (1), (2), (3)
5-5. Figure, Table
The title of Figure,Table should be marked in English while the same rule applies for details in the table. The title of table should be capitalized except for prepositions and articles. The table should be prepared without inserting horizontal or vertical lines. A number and brief title should be attached to the table according to the order quoted in the text while the title cannot use abbreviations as a general rule. The explanation on category is inserted to footnote and not inserted to heading. Non-standard abbreviations used in tables are all explained in footnotes. In footnote, symbols are used for explanations and they are used in the following order : *,†,‡,§,∥,¶,**,++,‡‡. Table & Figure are attached together in order after the text and their location is indicated in the text. The legend is marked in English as a general rule, but only the first word is capitalized and the rest is marked with lower case letters. The figure must be submitted with onces that are clearly prepared as professional design, should record arrows indicating the top, name of author and serial number on the back and the title or explanation of all figures should be recorded at once on a separate page. Tables or figures (including photographs) shall be no more than 10 all together and the exceeding expenses should be paid by the writer in avoidable cases. In case the writer requests colored figures, the expenses shall be paid by the writer.
5-6. Bibliography
The writers have responsibility to check whether the bibliography included in the draft is quoted precisely and completely. All bibliographies are prepared in English as a general rule. English preparation of bibliography should be prepared by referring to WHO-IST and WHO international standard for acupuncturing parts published by WHO.

The bibliography should be organized by putting serial numbers according to the order quoted in the text, indicate by putting into parenthesis as arabic numeral in a form of superscript number at the end of quoted phrase, but should be recorded by corresponding with serial number of bibliography at the end. The abstract should not use bibliography. Quoting abstract, non published study report, internet and newspaper should be avoided if possible. The “in press” should be marked at the end of thesis which is decided for publication but not published yet. English names should be written as last name first and the rest should be initialized. And the number of bibliographies should be 40 or less in case of original work and 20 or less for case report as a general rule. (But excluding the review thesis.) Among all quoted theses, quoting 2 volumes or more theses published on The Korean Oriental Medical Society Journal is strongly recommended.

Write last name first and write initials for the rest in case of having 6 or less writer while writing 6 people in order and mark et al. in case of having 7 or more writer. Even in case of Korean books, bibliography information should be provided in English as a general rule and the bibliography information can use parentheses.
